This is a place to find news about your Bossin cousins (whatever their last name) and share your news with them. We’re posting the minutes of The Bossin Cousin Club meetings here, too.
Of course, yesterday’s news is today’s history. So it is also a place to gather and share the history of the extended Bossin family. So far, we have “The History of the Bossin Family: 100 Years in the Making” by Allen Bossin from our 100 year reunion, “The True Adventures of Zussman Bossin” by Bob Bossin (also from our 100 year reunion), and an article about the reunion by Cheryl (Shayndel) Tallan.
This site welcomes contributions from all of the Bossin cousins. If you have an update you’d like to share, send an email! If you have something for our History section, send that, too.

Bossin Cousin Club 
Hello to all the Bossins. My name is Ben Bossin, born in D.C., now living in Atlanta by way of Houston, then Boston. By now it’s been a number of years since I first “discovered” the Bossin family website, and I congratulate you on how much it’s grown and how beautifully it tells its story. With regard to the photo album, it’s amazing how my understanding of who’s who is helped by it.
When I first saw the site, I undertook to correspond with a few of the folks who were mentioned. But after a few exchanges, I guess we ran out of steam, although Bob Bossin gave me quite a bit of background on the family’s roots in Kiev. Also, my daughter, Joanna Bossin, an attorney, unexpectedly bumped into Alan Bossin in connection with a transaction she was working on; and my rabbi, Philip Kranz, said he knew Ken Bossin when he (Phil) was growing up.
To briefly repeat a few facts I shared earlier: My father’s father was Joseph Bossin, born in or around Minsk. He emigrated to NYC, possibly already married. Wife was Anna Halpern. Sons were Louis, Samuel, and Solomon (my father, b. 1912), all deceased. A daughter (Dora?) died (TB?) in late teens or early twenties.
Have not been able to find any siblings for Joseph. Believe his father’s name was Israel.
In brief, that’s about it. Are we related? Hard to tell. Any clues, please give me a shout. Happy New Year and Hanukkah to all.

Hi Bob,
I’m responding to your statement (Dated Nov 2009 ?) about my family tree being blank. You also referred, I think, to a link between my name and the Bossin family tree.
I am not aware of any link from me to the Bossin family tree; at least I don’t recall ever establishing a link of that kind. I think that was because I never found a conection between me and the Cleveland/Canadian Bossins. In fact, when I went to the Bossin family tree, I could never get below the first level.
On another matter: Are your recordings available at U.S. retailers. If not, what’s the best way to get them?

I think Bob was referring to the link to the family tree in the main portion of the page (right above “Latest News”). It works for me on Firefox (Mac) and Safari. The trick is that you have to click on the little square button with a picture of a tree on it. It may not be obviously a link.
While I’m writing, thanks for sharing the text of your talk, Bob! I’ve added it to the site.
I’m using the latest firefox for Windows, and no tree appears to click on, just an empty box where it should be, and the text about the tree. I also tried it with Internet Explorer and got a little red X in the box that would not link. From these comments, it sounds like someone else had the same problem…

Dear David,
Thanks for your recent insight concerning the family tree icon. When I display the icon, however, I see a little inner square, but not a tree. The little square contains only a red “x” and when I click on that, nothing happens. So I’m still open to suggestions. Thanks again.

Hey Bossin Family,
It is very fun finding out about the extended family I have. It is wild finding pictures on your website of my sister Daryn and I when we were kids. It is even more wild seeing prictures of my mother when she was a child.
We live in San Diego, which many visit. If any of you are ever in town, please do not hesitate to hook up with us. We will do the same when we make it your way.

Dvora and Aaron Harris are my great-grandparents through Ed and Tillie Harris (grandparents), and then my parents, Robert and Sonia Harris.
My father was told of this website and immediately called me so that I could see it. The photos in the archives (Bossin-080 through Bossin-093) astonished us the most. My father had never seen many of the photos posted there and I am flummoxed as to how the photos of my sister (Lisa) and me showed up there. Other than those two photos, I had never seen any of the pictures.
We are very much interested in contacting the Allen Bossin who wrote the family history. Please contact me at mishal@charter.net

I don’t think I’m even closely related to you and I don’t even know whether this website is still managed, but it seems we share the same family name even though I have never heard of any Ukrainian or American links of my family.
